Temple Square

Every year, the day after Thanksgiving, the LDS Church puts on quite a light display in downtown Salt Lake City for the Christmas season.  Of course it draws thousands of people every night, and because of that, it’s a great time to advertise and preach… provided the weather cooperates!  Generally, I would start out by wishing the crowd a Merry Christmas, and then I would tell them that this, pointing to my JosephLied.com sign, is my Christmas gift to them.  I’d encourage them to check the site out and then got to give them a simple example of how Joseph Smith lied.  I would tell them that a month before he died, as recorded in their own History of the Church vol. 6, Smith said that he was a monogamist.  However, recently LDS.org has acknowledged that Smith had somewhere between 30 to 40 wives at the time.  I told the crowd that this is who LDS are trusting for their eternal salvation.  However, I’ve got better for them.  I began preaching the good news to them that Jesus has come to set them free from their lives of bondage to a religious system before they may be worthy enough to enter into His presence.  I warned them of the false Christ of the LDS Church and also how Jesus warned of false Christs who would come in the last days (cf. Mat. 24:24).

I'd say I was pretty successful when I went out.  People, for the most part, were obviously listening to me as I preached, and the stats continued to go through the roof!  Someone walked by and said, "Great advertising!"  Another apparently LDS came by and asked how much I wanted for my sign!  LDS know that advertising works!  With that in mind, here’s a thread somebody posted on Reddit after seeing and hearing me preach (bad language warning!).

Provo Temple Opening

Beginning on January 15 and going through March 5, the latest LDS temple will be opening up for a public tour.  This time it will be about an hour from me in Provo.  The building is the refurbished Provo Tabernacle, which was gutted by fire in 2010.  It is only about 2-3 blocks from where Tara grew up as an LDS kid.  Her late father even sang there.  This is the second temple for Provo.

The problem with this outreach is going to be the weather.  Neither tourists nor evangelists like being out in such cold temperatures.  So in addition to all the regular outreach things we need prayer for, please pray the weather will cooperate!

We Need Your Partnership!

We not only need your prayers, but we need your financial assistance as well.  Keep in mind that your investment is not simply for us, but for the lives of others we reach with the gospel.  The standard way to financially invest is by writing a check to Courageous Christians United (CCU).  For more information on various ways to invest in this ministry, including online giving, please see our “Invest” page on any of our sites.  Please keep in mind we have no financial guarantees each month. Ministry partners come and go.  If you’re not a partner, please consider joining our team and let us know soon.  We’d love to be your missionaries here in Utah.  Many thanks to those of you who hold us up in prayer and in your financial giving!

We expect God to provide for our needs through you.  Why?  Because the Bible is clear: “the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:14).

I came upon your website and thought it was great. I am a Christian too and have a heart for the Mormons who have been so mislead by false teachings. In doing family research I discovered my ggg grandfather was Henry Deam who was with Jos Smith when he was killed and one of his close  followers. He broke with them over Brigham Young becoming leader and disagreed with the polygamy issue, went on to start the Reorganized LDS, but was later drummed out. Anyway with that history, very glad my family got out of LDS and that I have the truth

I sent a form letter to the LDS Church to have my records removed some time ago. It's written in a way the Church is forced to honor your request. I'm trying to find it to help my mom have hers removed as well. Any help you may offer would be appreciated.

Thank you.

[I replied:] Don't know if you saw these links on my Testimonies page or not: http://www.utlm.org/onlineresources/nameremovalletter.htm
and
http://www.mormonnomore.com/.

Hope that helps!

Merry Christmas!

[She replied:] That's it!!! Thank you much. Be blessed and Merry Christmas to you as well.
