Mission Team

Our friend, Russ East of Utah Partnerships for Christ, was hosting a mission team from Wilmington, NC and brought them over for dinner last month. The team was a branch of Ratio Christi (reason of Christ), which is an apologetics/evangelism ministry to college campuses. It’s leader, Aaron Marshall, and his family just moved out here for a year to help establish branches at local campuses. Tara shared her testimony and I shared our ministry and some tips on witnessing to Mormons. Please pray for the Marshalls as they get established here.

Last month we had our friend David Mack share his story of coming out of Mormonism and giving his life to Christ. You can see the pictures and watch the video on the site.

Temple Square

I also started taking my daughters with me to Temple Square. They are in a year-round program at school and are off now for three weeks, and since Tara is now busy in grad school at the University of Utah, I am taking on more of a Mr. Mom role and need to get the kids out of the house. They are old enough now to come and at least pass out information to people. This has been just as
Tara sharing her story to Ratio
much a ministry to them as it is to others. They need to learn not only about evangelism, but about being rejected for sharing their faith. We teach our kids to clean up after themselves, do chores, pray, memorize Bible passages, go to church, etc., so of course we need to be teaching them how to evangelize as well.

My youngest, Zoe, is way more outgoing in passing out papers than Charis. Charis did a great job handing out information at the last Manti Pageant (see HERE), but is way more fearful at Temple Square since we’re the only Christians doing evangelism there. Please pray for both of my girls to become great evangelists, who will be more concerned about people’s salvations than what people think of them!

In addition to praying with a homeless guy named Josh and briefly challenging a Mormon lady named Maria, we preached to and walked briefly with about 30 to 50 LDS sister missionary tour guides who were apparently on their way to lunch. I told them they'll never be mother gods, since God only knew of one God. I told them Joseph Smith lied to them by telling them that we all have to be gods the same as all Gods had done before. One said that I misunderstood Smith. I told her, "No, I understand quite well that Smith was a polytheist for teaching the Heavenly Father had a Father before Him and that we had to become gods as well and yet the Bible teaches only one God--Father, Son and Holy Spirit." Zoe and I both quoted Isa. 43:10 to them. One sister missionary said that other gods were taught in the Psalms, so I quoted the passage to her and told her that they were obviously false gods.

The Ex-Mormon Files

Earl Erskine also interviewed me for his show: The Ex-Mormon Files. We talked about my background, how I got into this ministry, and what I do in reaching out to Mormons. Both shows should air around Thanksgiving, so stay tuned.

We Need Your Partnership!

We not only need your prayers, but we need your financial partnership as well. Keep in mind that your investment is not simply for us, but for the lives of others we reach with the gospel. The standard way to financially invest is by writing a check to Courageous Christians United (CCU). For more information on various ways to invest in this ministry, including online giving, please see our “Invest” page on our sites. Please keep in mind we have no financial guarantees each month. Ministry partners come and go. If you’re not a partner and are blessed by these monthly updates, please consider joining our team and let us know soon. We’d love to be your missionaries here in Utah. Many thanks to those of you who hold us up in prayer and in your financial giving!

We expect God to provide for our needs through you. Why? Because the Bible is clear: “the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:14).

You certainly have a lot of patience!! I am afraid that it's not a spiritual gift that I have - or at least not as much as you do! Keep up the good work Rob!
_____________

What is your best publication or arguments that I could send to my nephew?. He went from Mormonism to join his wife at a nondenominational church and then went from there into her Jehovah’s Witness church.

[I replied:] I'd give him my site [JWinfo.org] as well. I think my arguments are really good on the Home page as well as the False Prophecies page. Giving him the latter first may be best. If they botched it that many times, why in the world would we look to them for guidance in any spiritual matter?
_____________

It was a blessing to be at your home, thank you for your hospitality and for teaching your girls to memorize Psalm 3!

Everything was great, having your wife share and you share and you cook was super! Thank you!

We are becoming the old dogs- so glad we are on the same team, crazy to think how when I was a kid I was a supporter of

Joseph Smith- God is gracious for sure.

God bless,
____________

i got lucky god came to me and said... i want you out of this church now so i ran like a house on fire to get out.

Do you still think Shawn is a born again Christian?

[I replied:] Since I publicly stated at the Inquisition I've held hes not a bro in Christ, but a heretic. Actually before that when I wrote that blog

[He repied:] Obviously God only really knows, but I now think you were right.

[I replied:] Every reason supports it and no good reason to the contrary

[He replied:] I am in agreement with you

This wow [Word of Wisdom] issue is dividing the members. They dont understand why green te is forbidden. It is good for you. Obey, obey is the only answer they get.

[I replied:] That's exactly why I'm pushing the issue. In addition, I know how worthless it makes many of them feel when they can't live the WoW. It ought to drive them out and to Jesus for mercy

hello 🙂 i saw your website and read your bio...its nice that you have the ability to help mormons and those that have left, trying to leave or have ex mormon's trying to get our families the truth about mormons. im an ex mormon. left in 1994 when i turned 18. i was baptized about a yr ago. it felt good to get baptized again. felt like a spiritual bath to wash away the LDS baptism i had when i was 8. LOL anyhow. i am trying to find things i can learn so i can help my mom & siblings open their eyes to show them they are believing in a false God. the LDS brainwashes its members to "never listen to anti mormon stuff"...it isnt anti mormon, its just their history and even then you may get shut down. my family doesnt know i was baptized again or even got my named removed from the church officially last summer. im afraid of being shunned.
