LDS missionaries
Last month I had just got my order at In-N-Out Burger to take home and probably six LDS missionaries walked in. I greeted them, and one said that he really liked the cross that I was wearing. I’ve had this happen before. Next time I’ll ask them why they never wear one if they really like it that much. My ex-Mormon wife said they just do that to make a connection. Anyway, I didn’t have much time since my family was waiting on the food at home, but I told these guys to please check out my website JosephLied.com and that Smith failed every biblical test for being a prophet of God. I also told them that I loved them and I had to warn them before it’s too late. Needless to say, they looked rather surprised.

Last month we had my friend Caitlyn (Cat) Bailey share her story of leaving Mormonism and coming to Christ. You may watch her story and see the pictures at the site above.
PhD update
I received great news from my school last month that my Research Proposal has been accepted and my supervisor told me that he thinks I may be able to graduate by October. Please pray this will happen! I am in the process of going through all my chapters again and hope to get them back to my supervisors soon. Other professors from other universities will also be giving their feedback on my work.

Dad, Tara, Jacob, and Rob
Jacob
The guy I began reporting on the beginning of the year (https://www.courageouschristiansunited.org/news/january-2025-254484), Jacob, came over for Memorial Day! He’s been checking out different churches up in Ogden, Utah. He told my wife, Tara, that I saved his life! Please pray that he will continue to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord.
We need your partnership
If you’re looking for ways to store up for yourself treasures in heaven (Matt. 6:19-20), may I suggest investing in our ministry? We not only need your prayers, but we need your financial partnership as well. Keep in mind that your investment is not simply for us, but for the lives of others we reach with the gospel. The standard way to financially invest is by writing a tax-deductible check to Courageous Christians United (CCU). For more information on various ways to invest in this ministry, including online giving, please see our “Invest” page on our sites. If you’re not a partner and are blessed by these monthly updates, please join our team and let us know soon. We’d love to be your missionaries here in Utah. Many thanks to those of you who hold us up in prayer and/or in your financial giving!
Be strong and courageous (Joshua 1:6)!

[I replied:] Anything wrong in what I cite from LDS sources or do you just disagree with me upholding Christianity against the theology of the LDS Church? If the former, please give specific cases and please back up your claims with authorized sources.
Best,
Rob
[He replied:] I disagree with the fact that you feel like it is right to say the things that you have about my church. You have an entire website entirely based on slandering our church. If you don't believe that's fine. I've reported your site to the Internet Crime Complaint Center.
Best wishes,
[I replied:] So you can't demonstrate how I'm making stuff up and slandering. I am very careful to speak the truth and that includes accurately describing what Mormonism teaches and how it goes against what the Bible teaches. You're in a cult that is leading you to a false god, false Jesus, false Holy Spirit, false gospel, and false scriptures taught by false prophets and false apostles. Someone has to warn you and others before it is too late. "Today is the day of salvation" (2 Cor. 6:2).
[He replied:] Rob, were you a past member? Or did you have close friends or family in the church?
Second, let's talk definitions. First off, on your website, you say that Members are not Christian. I'm not sure of your beliefs, but I hope you believe the Oxford English Dictionary. It says that Christianity is "the religion based on the person and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, or its beliefs and practices." We believe in Christ. Therefore, we are Christian.
Second, the word cult means "a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object." So all Christianity is literally a cult.
With Love
[I replied:] I never was LDS. My wife used to be, so many of my in-laws are. Mother-in-law used to teach at BYU Provo and Idaho. She's still a committed LDS.
For both your last 2 questions, they can be answered by reference to truth. I am simply concerned as to which Jesus is being taught. Both Jesus as well as Paul warned of false Christs (Matt. 24:24 and 2 Cor. 11:3-4). So if the LDS Church is teaching a false Christ, then at best, they are false Christians. Syntax (names, terms, or descriptions) is really secondary to semantics (the meaning behind the syntax). Since the LDS Church denies that Christ, or even the Father for that matter, created everything, and just the things pertaining to this or other worlds they rule over, then they have devalued Jesus/God and are teaching a false Christ against what the Bible teaches (e.g., Jn. 1:1-3, 14, Rom. 9:5, 11:33-6, 1 Cor. 8:6, and Col. 1:15-8).
Love you too bro! That's precisely why my site is out there.
[He replied:] So why us? According to your logic, Muslims are just as wrong. So why do you go after us?
[I replied:] I go after you guys, because you still need the God of the Bible. An appropriate response would be: "Thank you for helping us out." It's not: "What about these other guys?" Having said that, I also run MuhammadLied.info, JWinfo.org, AbortionIsMurder.info, and CourageousChristiansUnited.org (which deals with all sorts of faiths and philosophies that attack the Christian Faith).
