LDS General Conference report

Mike and Rob Sivulka
The first day of the LDS General Conference was pretty difficult work. It was very cold and a lot of cold hearts. However, I must have got out about 50 Temple Square Visitor's Guides. Here's a quick video of me passing them out.

Someone passing me by said that I should be with my family. I replied that my family wants me out here and I am with my brother. Thankful to have my brother Mike with me! He was out from Missouri primarily to visit our other brother Greg who was visiting from Serbia.

I had a jerky LDS guy video interview me today. It seemed like a waste of time. He said he was kicked out of our Facebook discussion board, and I can see why.

At the very end, Mike and I ran into an ex-LDS guy who said he was gay, but was still trying to figure out what to believe even though he believed in God. So I went through some arguments for God's existence and how these entail a radically different God from the exalted man God of Mormonism. Then I shared some arguments for the resurrection of Christ. Then I shared how Jesus taught He was this creator who died for him, loves him, and wants him to pick up his cross daily and be a part of Christ's kingdom. I shared how if this guy commits himself to Christ, He will come into this guy's life and give him new desires to please Him. Then this guy let me pray for him. It made all the headaches of the day worthwhile.

Rob, Mike, and Greg
The next day was a much better day. I distributed probably double the tracts than the day before. The weather was warmer too. Both my brothers–Greg and Mike–were out and had a great time.

As we were approaching the Conference, one LDS guy was holding his kid and told us, "There are families here." Like we were displaying religious porn. I told him, "And they need to be saved too. You guys come to our doors with your message and we have families there too."

I met a Catholic named Glen who likes my videos. Also, an LDS missionary came up to me and told me we talked about a couple years ago outside my folks' home in South Jordan. He's about ready to go home. He wanted my tracts, so I gave him a couple of them.

I was briefly interviewed by a news agency. The interviewer asked why I feel the need to be out there and how I figured my religion was the truth. Instead of walking though the arguments why I believe Christ, I sensed a bit of hypocrisy on the interviewer's part and I want that to be called out prior to dealing with any arguments. He thought my response made sense, but that ended the interview. You may watch that interview here. The sound quality is not good, so crank it up.

We talked to a couple really nice LDS guys for quite a while. One of them named Bruce (pictured in orange jacket) remembered me from the Manti Pageant days.

Paul Gee (former LDS) and his buddy Patrick from Florida were out evangelizing again (pictured on far right). Also former LDS Adam Guymon was out again (pictured in wheelchair).

Pray that God will bring the increase and bear fruit. Thanks for praying!

Cindy Metcalf came to share her ministry called Relentless Hope. It reaches out to the ritually abused and sex trafficked. Please watch the video and see the pictures at the site.

LDS missionaries

I briefly talked to a couple bro LDS missionaries walking across the street from my home. It was like they were told not to talk to me. I've never had missionaries decline a moment to talk before. So since I knew they didn't want to talk, I gave them a quick warning. I told them to please check out my site JosephLied.com while pointing to the bumper sticker on back of my car. I told them I've done a lot of research into Mormonism and I wanted to warn them that Smith was a false prophet who taught a false Christ and false God and is leading people to hell. I wished them well, and that was it.

We need your partnership

If you’re looking for ways to store up for yourself treasures in heaven (Matt. 6:19-20), may I suggest investing in our ministry? We not only need your prayers, but we need your financial partnership as well. Keep in mind that your investment is not simply for us, but for the lives of others we reach with the gospel. The standard way to financially invest is by writing a tax-deductible check to Courageous Christians United (CCU). For more information on various ways to invest in this ministry, including online giving, please see our “Invest” page on our sites. If you’re not a partner and are blessed by these monthly updates, please join our team and let us know soon. We’d love to be your missionaries here in Utah. Many thanks to those of you who hold us up in prayer and/or in your financial giving!

Be strong and courageous (Joshua 1:6)!
