Taylorsville LDS Temple

Weather permitting, last month I began to spend a couple days a week advertising my site outside the construction site for the upcoming Taylorsville, UT temple. I only live just over 10 minutes from it. It should be completed in a couple years. I always receive many different reactions from people whenever I go out to advertise. People stare, wave, give me the middle finger, nod, shake their heads, honk, smile or frown. One guy said, “&%#$ Smith.” I get thumbs up and down, peace signs, and laughs. One guy said, "You're full of crap," while another said, "Awesome dude!"

Utah March for Life

My dad, my daughters and I all participated in this year’s March for Life here in Utah. This year was different in that we had a car rally down State street due to COVID restrictions. We advertised my site on both our cars: AbortionIsMurder.Info. Right before the rally got going, my dad and I met the newly elected UT Congressman Burgess Owens who led the procession. I told him that I had been praying for him. I gave him my card with all my sites on them and told him to check them out. He put the card in his pocket and said he would, so please pray that he really will and that God will draw him out of Mormonism through those sites.

Book Review

I reviewed From Baptist Preacher to Mormon Teacher by Wain Myers. This is a conversion story of a black guy, and I just happened to post the review on MLK Day!

Calvary Food Distribution

My dad and I have also begun helping distribute food boxes on Tuesdays at Calvary Salt Lake City. If you are local and want to pick up food for yourself and/or others, you can drive through Tuesdays from 10 AM to 2 PM or Thursdays from 6:30 PM to 8 PM. Thursdays also has clothing and free hot dogs. Every car is prayed for and there are gospel tracts with our service times on them in each main box.

Resuming Monthly Meetings

Since we have had COVID, we are looking forward to starting up our monthly fellowships again this month. Pray for God’s direction and blessing on these events.

We Need Your Partnership!

We not only need your prayers, but we need your financial partnership as well. Keep in mind that your investment is not simply for us, but for the lives of others we reach with the gospel. The standard way to financially invest is by writing a tax-deductible check to Courageous Christians United (CCU). For more information on various ways to invest in this ministry, including online giving, please see our “Invest” page on our sites. Please keep in mind we have no financial guarantees each month. Ministry partners come and go. If you’re not a partner and are blessed by these
With Burgess Owens
monthly updates, please consider joining our team and let us know soon. We’d love to be your missionaries here in Utah. Many thanks to those of you who hold us up in prayer and/or in your financial giving!

We expect God to provide for our needs through you. Why? Because the Bible is clear: “the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel” (1 Cor. 9:14).

Be strong and courageous (Joshua 1:6)!

[I posted on my Facebook page:] On this MLK Day, let's recall the unifying words in Mormon scripture which got the Nephites and Lamanites beyond their segregation: "And it
Calvary Food Distribution
came to pass that those Lamanites who had united with the Nephites were numbered among the Nephites; And their curse was taken from them, and their skin became white like unto the Nephites; And their young men and their daughters became exceedingly fair, and they were numbered among the Nephites, and were called Nephites" (3 Nephi 2:14-6). Alma 3:6 specifically identifies the mark of dark skin as the curse.

[Private message:] Rob, as a believer, we don’t use other gospels to get the point across for multiple reasons.  All we need is Gods word not another gospel.  There are multiple studies and data sources out there that are taking small bits and pieces of information, taping them together and claiming that they substantiate the book.  It’s really weak.  Further, your statement may very well lead people in a wrong direction that you place faith in the Book of Mormon.  Please take your post down and use the Bible only please.  Thanks for listening.

[I replied:] This [your] post isn't found in the Bible, so there's no good reason that I should use the Bible only. Even Paul used pagan sources in Acts 17. Having witnessed to LDS for over 40 years now, I know that God draws them all out and to Himself in various ways.

Further, others who aren't even LDS need to be warned that the Book of Mormon is racist white-supremacist literature, and that provides them a good reason to stay away from it.

____________

Revelation 22:18-19
Book of Mormon,
Pearl of great price,
doctrines and covenants
All add to and take away
From the true word of God. The Holy Bible!

[I replied:] Yeah, I don't like that argument since I think Rev. 22 is referring to the revelation given in the book of Revelation itself. But I can still use it to show how the Joseph Smith Translation distorts the Book of Revelation. I think it's also better to use Gal. 1:6-9 and demonstrate that the LDS gospel is contrary to the gospel in the Bible. The former doesn't just add additional revelation, which they claim is all consistent with the previous revelation, but the LDS gospel actually contradicts the Bible when it teaches another God (another Father, another Jesus, another Holy Ghost) and another complete forgiveness of sins program.

Hey man, I just want to tell you that I love your apologetic ministry. You may not realize it, but I do take mental notes on how you reply in kindness (but assertive) to the people who want to push an untrue gospel.

This isn't anything more than a mental high five and message of encouragement. Keep on fighting the good fight, Rob! In Jesus name.

I’m watching your YouTube channel. Watching your visit to general conference a couple years ago.

Truth hurts sometimes. I just shared your website [to] a friend who’s been witnessing to a couple missionaries

Hello Rob how are you doing today?

[I replied with a thumb's up.]

[He replied:] Where are you from?

[I replied:] Raised in So Cal, MT, TX, AZ, living in UT

[I replied:] Yep, 2 of my own and a stepdaughter. U?

[He replied:] I'm a window with one daughter What do you do for a living?

[I replied:] https://www.mormoninfo.org/autobiography-15

[He replied:] Awww ❤️ is that you and your family?

[I replied with a thumb's up.]

[He replied:] What do you do for a living?

[I replied:] The autobiography states that [he's obviously not looking at the link I gave him]

[He replied:] I'm working here in Norway as Marine engineer How old are you?

[I replied:] 53

[He replied:] I'm 60years old Do you live alone

[I replied:] I live with my family

[He replied:] Do you have Gmail?

[I replied:] https://www.mormoninfo.org/contact-25

[He replied the following day:] Hello honey how are you feeling

[This is where I blocked him and then unblocked him to preach to him:] So I take it you're a homosexual and you're attempting to feed your sin nature and trying to disrupt a God intended family. Have I got that right?

[He replied:] What are you doing right now?

[I replied:] Calling you to repent

[He replied:] Send me your Gmail

[I replied:] You need to ask Jesus to forgive you all your sin and allow Him to take control of your life. Join the struggle against sin by trusting King Jesus. He will give you a new life if you call out to Him.

You don't want to ruin your life and others and then end up in hell for eternity

You need to wake up before it's too late

Someone has to tell you the truth before it's too late. You are running off a cliff.

[He replied:] How you mad Who are you and where are you from

[I replied:] Not mad at all. Just trying to warn you

[He replied:] I think you are not together okay

[This is what I was going to give him, but was blocked:] I love you enough to warn you. You need to turn from your sin before you go to hell. Please wake up and throw yourself on God's mercy in Christ. Today is the day of salvation.

The Book of Mormon claims it was recorded on plates in modified Egyptian.
There is evidence of early native Americans writing in a language similar to Egyptian hieroglyphs.
https://www.starmythworld.com/mathisencorollary/2011/07/case-of-micmac-hieroglyphs-powerful.html

[I replied:] "Micmac hieroglyphics do not resemble Ancient Egyptian or Mayan hieroglyphs; see here for an explanation of these different writing systems. Mi'kmaq is not linguistically related to Ancient Egyptian or any other semitic languages. The Mi'kmaq language is entirely native to the New World and is related to other major North American Indian languages like Lenape, Ojibwe, and Cree" (http://www.native-languages.org/mikmaq.htm). So your claim is disputed. What I [want is] "undisputed."

[He replied:] "Micmac hieroglyphics do not resemble Ancient Egyptian or Mayan hieroglyphs", that is a disputed fact. They do resemble them.

[I replied:] I'll defer to the scholars on this, and they are not united in their claim that this corroborates the BM. What we need are not lay guesses of what might be the case. What we need are some indisputable evidence that would corroborate the New World BM story. We have that for Jerusalem, Jericho, Sea of Galilee, Solomon's Temple, Pool of Siloam, etc., but we don't have that for the BM New World depictions.
